How Children Progress at Apollo Behavior
Most parents ask us the same question at the first visit: will this help my child get to school? Here is what our own records show. Every child’s progress is tracked against goals set for that child.
Getting to school
| Result | What it measures |
|---|---|
| 72% | Of all clients who finished services after at least 12 months, 72% graduated or went to school. |
| 84% | Of clients who started at age 3 or younger and finished services after at least 12 months, 84% graduated or went to school. |
| 18 months | The average time graduated clients received services with Apollo Behavior. |
Catching up to their age
Children who start with us at age 3 or younger and stay at least 12 months reach, on average, 80% of the skills expected for their age. About half reach the full level for their age.
We measure this with PEAK (Promoting Emergent Advanced Knowledge), an assessment of language, thinking and social skills that compares each child with what is typical for their age. Children take it when they start and every six months after. Learn more on our What is RFT? page.
Progress on standard assessments
Every child is assessed when they start and again every six months. The table shows the share of children who improved between assessments.
| Assessment | What it measures | Children who improved |
|---|---|---|
| CARS | How severe autism symptoms are, in communication, social interaction and emotional response | 76% |
| CFQL | Quality of life for the child and family | 56% |
| Vineland | Everyday skills: communication, daily living, socializing and motor skills | 55% |
57% of our clients started in the severe range on CARS. Of those, 46% have moved to the mild-to-moderate or minimal range.
What “graduated” means
A child graduates when their BCBA and family agree they have met their treatment goals and no longer need ABA therapy. “Went to school” means the child left our center to start or return to a school classroom.
